previous to his arrival to the town makochi, sakura comes from a background where he had been constantly discriminated against and ostracized by many peers due to his unique appearance. his odd-haired stuck out, and even more so, his eyes created false perceptions for those around him. as a child, sakura would often have attempted to fit in and enact good deeds before realizing it was futile to try. in the end, sakura had turned to the world of violence as a means to survive then found his end goal to be recognized through raw strength. his home when he moved is a rugged apartment, only having limited supplies including a floor futon with no pillows.furin high school, located in the town of makochi, had been an opportunity to put that strength to the test. at the time, the school was infamous for the delinquency rampant that bubbled competitions and rankings for the top seat at the school. the free-for-all lifestyle suited sakura, who saw this as a chance to steal away that seat and fight strong people in order to finally become recognized. sakura arrives to the town, making an unintentional bustling entrance by fighting a group of disrupting entities bothering the young cafe pothos owner, tachibana kotoha.sakura realized that furin high school had become more tame, helping and protecting their beloved town through the formation of the unit, bofurin. "anyone past this point who causes pain, who brings destruction, who holds evil in their heart, will be purged by bofurin without exception." yet, sakura continues his journey to fight for the "top of the school."

sakura gradually warms up towards the town, especially within his class as he navigates his journey to being the top of bofurin. during the vote for class captain, sakura had been agreed upon as he then is put into a journey of leadership throughout the course of the series. he soon learns the language of fists can be used for a source of communication after the first major fight of the present series from dueling an opposing gang, shishitoren's vice togame jo.his journey has been difficult, rugged, and imperfect in itself. sakura struggles with the distinction of people as comrades or adversaries throughout the series. yet, distrust is not only asserted onto others but his own very being as he starts to recognize his responsibilities. sakura remains impulsive, body and instincts always reacting first before his mind can stop and think on several different occasions. he entirely relies on his fighting skills and his physical abilities, believing that his entire worth and existence lie upon them due to his inconfidence in everything else.sakura also struggles with public displays of affection, kindness, and acceptance between people and towards him. he's flustered as he lacks words despite his constant involvement in helping others. sakura is particularly sensitive towards romance, often embarrassed or extremely flustered when he presumes some connection to be romantic or shown romantic implications through actions between people.

TO BE THE STRONGEST. instead of attending furin high school, sakura was picked up by natori shigo- the leader of keel after being seen beating up people to a pulp. undomesticated, fangs bearing, simply finding temporary amusement stacking bodies within keel. feeling rewarded as he rises into rank with every blood splatter. still, sakura stays true to his own strength; finding using weapons to be lame. sakura particularly prefers being alone, as he always had. on some days, doesn't even attend meetings for keel and seen smoking or getting into other fights...
